Ashwagandha is a herb that is still relatively unknown in Sweden, despite being one of the most important herbs in Ayurveda. In Ayuvrveda, Ashwagandha is called the intelligent herb because it always strives to help the body regain its balance - whether it is too much or too little stress hormone.
It originates in India but is also found in the Middle East and Northern Africa. The plant grows like a strong shrub that reaches a height of almost five meters and has yellow flowers. The plant has been used for over 4000 years for its health promoting properties. It is also called Indian Ginseng and Winter Cherry.
Indian ginseng is a potato plant species.
